Foam and Drywall 02-24-2010

The garage ceiling/gameroom floor had no insulation but now it has a 2 inch coat of closed cell urethane foam. Insulates and seals out air infiltration in a single step. I also foamed up all the exterior wall penetrations in the SIPs. And the drywall was delivered today. Sheetrocking starts tomorrow! It will look like a real house by the weekend.

02-18-2010 Exterior Painting, Electric, and Cabinets

The painter has begun to paint the trim. The electrician is almost finished wiring the house. And the cabinet maker has begun to make the custom cabinets.

02-12-2010 Interior Framing, Plumbing, AC Finished

The framers finished up everything on their list. They added the pocket door frames and the Jacuzzi tub surround. (Yes, it will be Jacuzzi brand!) The plumbers are finished with their "top out" and the AC contractor has installed the air handler and all the ducts. It looks like a giant silver spider in the attic.





And then when the electrician was supposed to show up... Old Man Winter showed up instead.

Popout Bay Windows and the Porch 02-11-2010

The framers have mostly completed the front porch and here's the details of the popout bay windows. Nicely done.

Front Siding and Kids Tub 02-05-2010

The framers are finishing up work on the front of the house and the plumbers have installed the kids tub/shower combo. They had to knock some of the studs out of the way to get it in.

Right Front Gable 02-01-2010

The framers added the right front gable peak today. All that's left for them is the right gable peak, the front porch, and the front siding.

Attic Flooring 01-30-2010

Rainy weather so the framers stayed inside. They cut and nailed OSB (oriented strand board) to the top of most all of the horizontal ceiling joists in the house. This essentially forms a safe attic floor throughout more than 50% of the house! Talk about lots of storage!

The Doors Arrive 01-29-2010

The front and back doors arrived today. We couldn't help ourselves with the Texas star. The back door has the blinds between the glass. Both are Masonite doors.
